Build a Skyscraper on Your Day Off From School

It's Pulaski day and the kids have another day off school what are you going to do with them?  Pay a visit to the Chicago Children's Museum at Navy Pier.  The kids can design their own skyscraper at the skyline exhibit and learn about Chicago's tallest buildings.  Because it's the first Monday of the month, for kids fifteen and under it's free! What a great way to spend a day off of school.

 When you combine Bingo and Tango what do you get?  Find out on the second Tuesday of every month at the MCA.  Hosted by Jason Pickelman from 6:00-8:00, this spicy mix includes filling Bingo cards with shapes based on works in the MCA collection.  In between games, you can learn how to tango with professional Argentine dance instructors.  For more information go to www.mcachicago.org.

Start the month off with relaxation and yoga on the first Thursday of every month at REI on Lincoln Park, 1466 N. Halsted.  From 6:30-7:45 a yoga instructor will be teaching a free class for all levels of experience.  Stretch both your mind and your body at the next class on March 5 at REI.

Tap your toes and get into the beat in the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods in Chicago.  On Tuesday nights Jeff Parker plays guitar with bassist John Abrahms and Drummer John Herndon at Rodan 1530 Milwaukee  Ave. starting at 10:30.

If you're into foot stompin' fun with a bit of Country Blues complete with washboard and upright bass,  check out Devil in a Woodpile at the Hideout.  It's located at 1354 West Waubansia.

Explore Mexican culture with out leaving Chicago

The National Mexican Museum of Mexican Art presents the Mexican culture fron ancient times to the present.  It's the nation's largest Latino art institution and it's located here, in Chicago.  Explore Latino culture through Native folk art, Modern art and performance art.  Entrance is free, although the museum is closed on Mondays and Holidays.
